Meet Dr. Thurgood

David B. Thurgood, DDS, MS

Dr. Thurgood was born and raised in Ogden, Utah.  He grew up working on his grandfather’s dairy farm.  After high school, he joined the Army to help pay for college and served as a legal specialist in the 85th JAG detachment in Fort Douglas, UT.  

He completed his undergraduate studies at Weber State University and received his Bachelor of Science Degree with honors in Zoology with a minor in Chemistry.  He earned his dental degree at The Ohio State University School of Dentistry, graduating Magna Cum Laude.  Following dental school, Dr. Thurgood completed a 4 year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at The Ohio State University Medical Center.  He also completed a Masters of Science degree in Oral Biology during his residency.

Dr. Thurgood is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.  He is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.  He is a member of the Colorado Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Dr. Thurgood is on staff at Poudre Valley Hospital and Medical Center of The Rockies.  He is licensed by the State of Colorado to provide general anesthesia and he maintains certification in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.

Dr. Thurgood served as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Oral Surgery at the University of Colorado, School of Dental Medicine for 6 years.  He served as a board member on the Colorado State Dental Board for 6 years.

Dr. Thurgood enjoys spending time with his wife and three children.  Outside of the office, his interests include mountain biking, skiing, camping, sailing, scuba diving and travelling.
